To combine the stability and rigidity of carbon fiber with the traditional aesthetics of wood, RainSong has developed SFT: Soundboard Fusion Technology. After careful experimentation, we were able to combine a thin spruce soundboard and a unidirectional pre-impregnated carbon layer in a single molding step. The resulting SFT soundboard is a composite matrix that resonates as a single unit, just like a solid wood soundboard. The physical properties of carbon fiber far exceed those of thin wood. Therefore, SFT soundboards retain the moisture and temperature resistance of carbon fiber.

The RainSong Orchestra Model is the most refined of all RainSong shapes. It's our most comfortable and intimate guitar, with a closeness that makes it a favorite among the coffee shop crowd. Treble, already a stunning attribute of RainSongs, and its carbon sound are particularly regal in this small guitar. Crystal clear bells, balance, exceptional individual note separation, and wide dynamic range make the OM one of our most individually expressive guitars. Thanks to Projection Tuned Layering™, the OM is capable of powerful projection. It won't rattle windows like a Jumbo or Dreadnought, but when driven, the OM delivers plenty of power and punch for a small-bodied guitar.

The standard NS neck joins the body at the 12th fret instead of the 14th fret. This moves the bridge back on the soundboard toward the center of the lower bout, resulting in better sonic energy from the strings to the soundboard and improved bass response. The NS also has a shorter scale length (24.875"), making it a more comfortable neck to hold and play.
