About This Product
This is a 2024 reissue vinyl LP pressing of A New Perspective by Donald Byrd. The American jazz composer and trumpeter originally released his studio album in early February 1964, via Blue Note Records. Produced by Alfred Lion, the album was recorded at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
A sideman for many other jazz musicians of his generation, Byrd was one of the few hard bop musicians who successfully explored funk and soul while remaining a jazz artist. As a bandleader, Byrd was an influence on the early career of Herbie Hancock and many others.
