The solid-state electric bass was created by Leo Fender starting with the introduction of the Precision Bass in 1951. Following the success of the P-bass, Fender introduced the Jazz bass in 1960. Recognized by its slightly slimmer neck, offset-waist body, and two single-coil pickups, the Jazz Bass has proven to be one of the most played and recorded instruments in music history and chosen by countless world-class bassists such as Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Victor Bailey, Sting, Flea, and Rush frontman Geddy Lee. The American Professional Jazz Bass is the latest incarnation of that remarkable instrument.
Designed from the ground up to deliver the ideal bass for both stage and studio use, the American Professional Jazz Bass boasts a wealth of player-pleasing features. The familiar Modern-C neck contour feels comfortable in your hands, while the combination of power and old-school low end delivered by a pair of Tim Shaw-designed J-Style single-coil V-Mod pickups delivers a range of legendary bass tones. Further enhancements include the vintage-style HiMass bridge, whose sturdy construction transfers string energy to the body for increased sustain and articulation, while the fluted tuner design ensures optimal break angle and tension on your string posts. This 5-string model features an extended low B string range.
